On May 18, 2005, the Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District presented its Special Recognition Award to Ljiljana Vasiljevic, the publisher of The South Coast Insider:
As Founder, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of The South Coast Insider, you have used the eyes of an outsider to help us see what is special about our region. You have been a relentless advocate for what this region could be, using your formidable and creative spirit to unite and strengthen the South Coast community. Best defined as a civic-minded entrepreneur, we wish you success as you expand beyond The Insider with a new publishing venture. We are grateful that you chose our region in which to make your mark in America. On May 6, 2005 University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Charlton College of Business presented an Award for Product and Process Innovation --Breaking New Ground to The South Coast Insider. Who knew that a region dotted with old mill cities and former farmlands could be a bastion of innovation? As part of its 40th Anniversary celebration, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Charlton College of Business recognized five local companies at the Breaking New Ground, Product and Process Innovation awards ceremony on May 6, 2005. One of five recipients was The South Coast Insider. Sebastian Clarkin accepted the Innovation Award on his mothers behalf on at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
