The mostly shaded course winds through the picturesque village of Mattapoisett, along the historic waterfront, around fabled Neds Point Lighthouse and back to Shipyard Park. All proceeds from the race are awarded to graduating seniors from ORR High School who are runners. Runners can register at SignMeUp.com JULY 4 The Town of Fairhaven Office of Tourism and the Fairhaven Village Militia invite the public to take part in Fairhavens annual American History Costume Parade. Participation in the parade is open to anyone wearing a costume depicting any period of American history from 1620 to modern times or anyone dressed in patriotic style. Local organizations and sports teams and scout troops are welcome to march in costume or in uniform. This is a one-mile march, south on Green Street to Fort Phoenix. Line up 8:45am and Parade 9:30am. JULY 7-18 Summer at the Marion Natural History Museum offers kids two opportunities to get outside. Life Along the Shore is for kids entering grade 1&2, and uses games, journals and introductory science techniques to explore the plants and animals that live in our areas many coastal habitats. The second program, Watershed Discovery, is an in-depth investigation of our areas water resources for students entering grades 3&4. Programs run Monday-Friday from 9am-noon.
