Hope for the holidays

For the first time in many years, I’m hope-filled this holiday season. Yes, I am.

I’ve always believed that one person can make a difference – and Barack Obama has demonstrated that – but the voters of the United States had to put down the remotes, get to a polling place and actually vote. And that made a real difference. Yes, it did.

Like Michelle Obama, for the first time in a long time, I’m proud to be a citizen of this great land. Like Barack, I’m feeling the pride. And I’m not afraid to say that I haven’t been proud of this country in a long time.

Roar of the crowd

The performing arts fill our stages

“The play’s the thing,” Shakespeare said. In Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island, it is indeed.

And so is music and anything to do with the performing arts. This season promises to make lovers of the arts quite happy, no matter which art draws them to the footlights and marquees.
